Goldcoast Ballroom was very well represented by our Pro-Am and Amateur couples who danced in the Grand National Dancesport Championships held in Key Biscayne, Florida on October 30 through November 2, 2013. Their results were impressive!! Here is a summary – in approximately the chronological order in which they danced in the competition:
Pro-Am Results – American Rhythm: Thursday Night, October 31
Wendy Anderson, dancing with her Rhythm instructor Michael Neil, WON FIRST PLACE in the Silver Closed American Rhythm Championship Final (which included Cha Cha, Rumba and Swing), and won the Mirror Ball Trophy!!She also WON FIRST PLACE in the Bronze Closed American Rhythm Championships (Cha Cha and Rumba)!! AND, SHE WON FIRST PLACE in the Pre-Silver Cha Cha, Swing, Bolero and Mambo Single Dance Finals, AND FIRST PLACE in the Intermediate-Bronze and Full Bronze Single Dance Finals in Cha Cha, Rumba, Swing, Bolero, and Mambo!!!

Giovanni Rannella, dancing with his instructor Olga Bogdanov, beautifully executing extraordinarily complicated routines WON FIRST PLACE IN ALL OF THE SINGLE DANCE FINALS they entered!! This included FIRST PLACE in Open Gold Advanced Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot and Quickstep!! In the Championships, with Giovanni being the only amateur gentleman dancing in very competitive large heats against all Pro male dancers, they placed highly in the Open International Standard Dancesport Series Championship (which included five dances – – Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot and Quickstep) and in the Open International Standard Championship (which included five dances – – Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot and Quickstep)!!Outstanding dancing, Giovanni!! Our Pro-Am, Amateur, and Professional competitors were strongly supported at the competition by a large contingent of loyal members of the “Goldcoast Family” who came to the Grand Nationals as spectators! They enthusiastically (and loudly) cheered on our competitors, and afterward graced the Ritz Carlton Lobby with impromptu Salsa dancing!! Thanks to all of you who came!! What fun we all had!!!
