During April, Paolo and Liene Di Lorenzo will be teaching International Style Slow Waltz in their Thursday night International Style classes – 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. – April 3, 10, 17, 24.

This class is $15.00 per person, and includes the Supervised Practice Session after the class! During the Practice Session, Paolo and Liene dance with their students, and the students dance with each other.

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn this beautiful, romantic, and fun dance with Paolo and Liene, who are one of the Top professional competitive couples in the World! They are the reining 2013 United States National Professional Classic Show Dance Champions! As United States National Professional Champions, they will represent the United States in the World Championships! We are so excited for Paolo and Liene and so very proud of them, and happy and grateful that they are part of our Goldcoast Ballroom team!!

Every Thursday night from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Paolo & Liene teach a one-hour class in one of the five International Standard ballroom dances, followed by a one-hour structured practice session for the students, which includes dancing with the teachers.

Each month they teach a new routine in one of the five International Standard dances — Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Slow Foxtrot, and Quickstep. For more information about this style of dancing and the other styles of dancing, see our Resources/ Learn About Dance page.

At the end of the International Standard dance class, they hold a structured practice session which is open to students in the class. During the practice session, the students have the opportunity to dance with Liene and Paolo, and the students dance with each other.

The practice session usually includes a “Five-Dance” simulated competition in which student couples can perform their own routines in all five of the International Standard dances, complete with walking on the floor properly, performing each dance, bows, and applause. When time permits, the “Five-Dance” becomes a “Ten-Dance,” including also the five International Latin dances. It is lots of fun!

The admission for the one-hour class (including the one-hour Structured Practice Session after the class) is only $15.00 per person.

Competition Class & Rounds – Thursday Nights, April 3, 10, 17, 24 – 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Preceding the International Slow Waltz Class, Paolo and Liene Di Lorenzo will teach a one-hour class – from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursdays, April 3, 10, 17, 24 — on preparing for dance competitions, including simulated International Standard and International Latin competition rounds. The class is open to amateur couples or singles.

In the Competition class, Liene and Paolo advise on how to improve your dancing and how to compete — including pointers and strategy on how to enter and leave the dance floor, take proper bows, negotiate floorcraft, and behave during a dance competition.

Then they simulate a dance competition during the class. The student couples dance “first-round,” “semi-final” and “final” competition rounds in the International Standard dances, alternating with rounds in the International Latin dances during the class.

Each student couple (or single) dances their own choreography during the simulated competition rounds.

Students can choose to participate in only the International Standard rounds, only the Latin rounds, or both. Each International Standard round includes all five of the International Standard dances – Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Foxtrot and Quickstep. The Latin Rounds include the five International Latin Dances – Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble, and Jive.

This simulation of a competition is great practice — especially if you are considering or planning to enter a dance competition!

The cost of the Competition Class & Rounds is $15.00 per person.
